While searching for her brother, Princess Louisa dons a fake identity and accepts a ride with handsome nobleman Samuel. With dangerous men on her trail, Louisa carefully guards her secret — and Samuel is determined to prove that he can keep her safe! An exciting romance by a USA Today bestselling author!
Princess Louisa of Aachen-Düren knows that her brother isn’t dead. She knows it deep in her heart, no matter what the newspapers say—and she’s going to prove it. But when Nik isn’t where he should be, she has no choice but to go out and search for him. How hard could it be to travel from Oxford to Dover… on her own… with no money and no means of transportation because her purse and horse have both been stolen? She’s never been on her own, but she’s not going to let these obstacles stop her. When she’s offered a ride by a handsome nobleman, she makes up a fake identity, certain her bodyguard will be sending men to find her.
Samuel, Lord Ranleigh, is off on his very last adventure before settling down and becoming respectable. He briefly stops in Oxford and discovers a clueless, beautiful foreign young woman trying to wheedle her way onto the mail coach. This might be the opportunity he needs to prove to his mother and the world he’s responsible. Ranleigh has no idea what he’s getting himself into when he offers the girl a ride.
Picking up strangers and stray animals is the least of his worries when men begin to follow them, trying to kidnap Isa. But when bullets begin to fly, he knows he must do everything within his power to protect this beautiful, if not entirely honest, young woman in his care.
In the second book of this sweet, and adventurous Royals & Rebels series by Meredith Bond you'll find hidden identities, a princess on the run, and three lives at stake… despite this, these royals and rebels must learn to trust and open themselves to a lifetime of love.

About Meredith Bond
USA Today bestselling author Meredith Bond’s books straddle that beautiful line between historical romance and fantasy. An award-winning author, she writes sweet, fun, traditional Regency romances, medieval Arthurian romances, and Regency romances with a touch of magic. Known for her characters “who slip readily into one’s heart,” Meredith loves to take her readers on a journey they won’t soon forget.
A thrilling adventure and a wild ride! We start book two of this exciting series with Princess Isa embarking on her journey to find her brother. Escaping on her own for the first time in her life, she is forced to learn some tough life lessons and examine her very character. Along the way she is joined by Lord Samuel Ranleigh who quickly takes up as her protector going so far as to enlist the help of kindly Mrs. Brompton to act as her companion to protect her reputation. Add in Sam’s trusty coachman Mr.Davies and you get a ragtag group of unexpected travelling companions. This story takes on so many character building twists for Isa, learning the value of appreciation, learning to trust and also help others and especially the value of friendship that is not dictated by class or station. Watching Isa’s evolution throughout this story is truly touching. But more beautiful is seeing the power of love between Isa and Sam, seeing each others core values and character and helping each other to grow. The story takes you on a wild ride with plenty of twists, bumps and surprises complete with a mish-mash of characters you can’t help but love.
In this part of the story we read about Princess Isa who is on the run because her life is in danger.
The very gallant and extremely helpful Samuel, Lord Ranleigh, decides to help her and soon he finds himself falling in love.
Interesting characters and an exciting adventure make this an entertaining story (which ends in a cliffhanger - this is not my favourite type of ending, but the story itself is good).
I read an Advance Reader Copy (ARC) of this book and my voluntary review is recorded above.
