They loved once without doubt. Now they grieve with distance. And still—they hold on. Alastair Brunwood, Highlander and husband, has always seen Deidre as his heart’s home. But after loss upon loss—and the death of their infant daughter—he becomes convinced that his pain is punishment, and his presence a burden. When a prophecy suggests Deidre will find new love by Christmas, he dares to believe that letting her go might bring her peace… even if it breaks him.
She lost everything. Except her belief in them. Deidre has suffered, yes. But her grief doesn’t make her love Alastair less—it makes her need him more. Yet the man beside her retreats deeper each day, pushing away the comfort she aches to give. When whispers of fate and flowers reach her ears, she refuses to let prophecy decide. Her love was chosen long ago—and she isn’t done fighting for it.
Grief divides. Love bridges. And tomorrow is always unwritten. In the hush of winter and the shadow of loss, Alastair and Deidre must face the painful truth: healing doesn’t arrive all at once, and comfort isn’t weakness. Their bond was forged in fire and tenderness—it can survive even this, if they let it. Because no prophecy, no pain, no silence can erase what was real… and what still is.
They’ve lost more than most. But love lives. And maybe this Christmas, it blooms again.
🌿 If you’ve ever been afraid that grief made you unlovable—and longed for someone who still chooses you, even when choosing is hard… this story is yours.
Each love story in this series can be read as a stand-alone. However, most readers prefer to read them in order.

It was an amazing story of love and redemption after betrayal and abandonment. But I had already read it. I wish she would tell when these are not new stories.
Delightful story! I enjoyed finding out about how Charles Whickerton and Beatrice came together. Beatrice has found herself in a situation where she may be forced, by her parents, to marry a much older man. When Charles first meets her, he is determined to make her his own. This is a beautiful, romantic tale and I highly recommend it.

Another beautiful story by this intrepid author. I loved the previous books in this series but this one blows the others out of the water. Troy and Nora are such fabulous characters that you struggle to understand why they separated five years ago. Secrets & misunderstandings along with some twists and turns kept my interest from start to finish. I thought that Grandma Edie was wonderful! This is a fantastic story that you don’t want to miss, but it helps to have read the earlier stories, in order to understand the Whickerton family members.
