It was her!
Grant Barrett, Earl of Wentford, felt as though he had strayed into a dream as he stood and stared across the ballroom at the woman he would marry.
He had never met her.
He had never spoken to her.
He did not even know her name.
Yet, he knew that it was āšš.
Her and no other.
Grant had felt it as though a bolt of lightning had struck him hard in the chest, knocking the air from his lungs and pulling his focus from the world around him to settle on her.
Her alone.
It was her!
His heart beat fast against his ribs as his gaze trailed over her lovely features. Her eyes shone in a rare golden hue, complementing the soft waves of her hair despite the few unruly curls that had escaped down her temples. With a wave of her hand, she brushed them away. There was kindness in her gaze, something soft and tender, sweet and almost innocent. Yet, Grant smiled when he saw the determined set of her jaw as well as the hint of steel that came to her eyes as a group of haughty, young debutantes pushed past her with no regard for their surroundings.
With a slight scoff, his siren turned away, rolling her eyes in a way that made Grantās heart pause in his chest.

BREE WOLF is a USA Today bestselling author and award-winning word wizard, who is rarely seen without a book in hand or fingers glued to the keyboard.
This book was just lovely! I can't even begin to describe just how great this book was. It was intense in all the best ways. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.
Benjamin Bailey is an American with an interesting history. He was born into the printing business in Boston and after a tragedy, moved to London to try his hand there and to stay with his grandfather. Heās got long hair and an unkempt beard. His clothes are too big and not all fashionable and his fingers are stained with ink. He doesnāt keep track of his schedule and is either late or forgets all together for meetings and events. Heās a busy man and is trying to buy out Prudenceās brother, the Duke of Clearford, who is part owner of the print shop.
The duke has a proposition for him. Samuel knows that Prudence is hiding something. She has an aversion to marriage and often slips out of balls to go meet with her friends. He has no idea what sheās doing and in order to find out, he asks his friend, Ben, to spy on her. If Ben finds out what sheās up to, Samuel will sell his interests to Ben.
Prudenceā¦how I loved her. Sheās witty, intelligent, and by the standards set forth by the ton, not the prettiest of the Merriweather sisters. Sheās often overlooked and underestimated, which made it easier for her to sneak away during social events. Sheās also a stickler for schedules and keeping them. So when her brotherās friend, Benjamin Bailey, starts showing an interest in her, sheās naturally suspicious. Nobody has ever wanted her for her. There was always something else in the mix; something for the perspective suitor to gain. She was never the prizeā¦until Benjamin Bailey.
I loved this story. Ben is not at all what the ton expects him to be and he really doesnāt care. But he does care what Prudence thinks. What started out as a business deal soon became an affair of the heart, something neither were expecting and something Prudence wasnāt at all convinced was real. This was a novel of acceptance, forgiveness, and redemption. It fired on all cylinders. It had some moments of humor (I adored Benās grandfather), some angst, some feels, steam, and the happy ending they both deserved.
There was a side story going on with just enough detail to keep me intrigued. Cora and her forced marriage to Lord Norton is the subject of the next novel in this series and one Iām anticipating. Cora and Prudence are friends and Prudence goes to great lengths to help Cora in this book. Iām anxious to see how Lord Norton and Cora come out in the next installment and hope to see Ben and Prudence again
I have been waiting for this story and it did not disappoint! Hot and spicy. Benās Cinderella moment was all I hoped it would be. Prudence finally telling off her brother was worth the wait. A hilarious grandfather thrown in for good measure, made for a lot of fun. This book also has a second story since Prudence and Cora were wearing the same costume to the ball. Already looking forward to First Comes Courtship. I love this series!
I loved that this was a best friends sister story without all the ācanāt be around youā bull. Even though Evelyn has been secretly in love with Rochester for years, he is the one she calls on for help and he answers in his own way. Both of them have past trauma to come to terms with and he needs to reconnect with his family. This is a new to me author and I liked that she took a different approach to the story from similar things I have read. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would read more by this author.
I LOVED this delightfully challenging journey to hea for Lord Dalton Rochester and Lady Evelyn āgooseā Markham. So many heartfelt moments, teasing flirtations and misunderstandings that come to light in this wild and fun yet tempered tale. Love all the characters and seeing some from the past included. I highly recommend this book as I couldnāt put it down!
